What is a SPCC Plan?
A SPCC Plan:
- Discloses what, where and how oil products are stored at your facility
- How the potential for a spill can be prevented
- Tells what actions to take if a spill occursSets procedures and record keeping requirements to ensure integrity of tank systems, loading and operating procedures to minimize the potential for spills
- Establishes training requirements and associated record keeping
The primary objective of the SPCC Plan is to prevent oil from reaching navigable waters.
This plan is designed to familiarize oil and hazardous material handling personnel at the facility with areas of potential spills, the procedures used to respond to a spill and the methods and procedures used to inspect equipment so that the risk of an accidental spill is reduced.
