Credit Manager

General Summary:
The Credit Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the credit department including planning, directing, and overseeing all credit operations, coaching and directing employees within the credit department, and ensuring conformity with the company’s credit policy.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Coach and direct a team of 5-7 credit, accounts receivable, and collection professionals.
• Manage an open line of credit from $15mm – $35mm
• Manage and oversee the processing of new credit accounts, approvals, and credit line extensions for customers
• Review credit agency reports for new and existing accounts to determine creditworthiness
• Analyze credit reports for determination of credit terms and line extension
• Communicate any credit or account-related issues to the customer’s sales rep for quick resolution
• Assist customers with credit questions and problems
• Manage the filing of delinquent customer accounts with our insurance carrier(s)
• Maintain customer terms and agreements
• Review accounts and release orders on credit hold for customers
• Oversee the management of payments and bank drafts
• Ensure delinquency and charge off goals are obtained
• Prepare requested reports for Executive Management
• Manage and oversee all credit insurance policies, renewals, and requirements
• Provide corrective action as a result of any credit discrepancies or problems identified
• Provide analysis of key performance indicators of department
• Responsible for the completion of any special projects or the assignment of other duties as requested by management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years credit management and collection experience, while supervising a team (in a non-banking environment)
• Proficiency in bankruptcy, repossession, and legal collection procedures
• Knowledge of credit reporting and proven credit analysis
• Experience with credit application processing and approval
• Strong business management and financial skills
• Ability to make independent credit decisions
• Experience with hiring, coaching, training, and managing credit professionals
• Ability to make recommendations and interact with all levels of management, customers, and vendors
• Build professional relationships with business partners, customers, and all levels of management
• Previous sophisticated ERP system experience required, Oracle/JD Edwards a plus
• Must have proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel. Pivot table skills a plus
• Self-starter with ability to take initiative and be an independent thinker
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and achieve objectives
• Proven multi-tasking skills and ability to work well in a team environment

Communication Skills:

• Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Responsive to the needs of internal and external customers with a sense of urgency and commitment to follow up
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers
