Benefits of Synthetic Oil

15 Jul 2019, Posted by McPherson Oil in Oil Tips

Conventional oil is distilled and refined from crude oil, a naturally-occurring liquid fossil fuel. Synthetic oil, on the other hand, is created artificially, molecule-by-molecule, from chemical compounds with the goal of mimicking the best properties of natural oil and tailoring to the specific demands of modern vehicle engines.

While the difference in the manufacturing process is neat for chemistry geeks, most drivers only care about the difference this makes for their vehicle. However, it turns out, these differences not only help the product last longer, but also create performance advantage such as efficiency in extreme temperature. Synthetic oils generally protect your vehicle better than conventional oils.

Oil degrades as it moves through your vehicle’s engine, leaving harmful deposits that over time can form sludge. This decreases your engine’s performance and useful life. Synthetic oil has fewer impurities and is more resistant to sludge formation.  Your engine stays cleaner, operates more efficiently and lasts longer than with conventional oil.

As you know, oil’s primary function is to lubricate engine parts that move at high speeds and are in direct contact with one another. Synthetic oils don’t break down as easily as conventional oils, so they protect your engine components from friction, wear and tear, and ultimately break down for longer.

McPherson Oil proudly distributes Mobil Delvac™ products.  For many years, Mobil Delvac™ engine oils have helped owner-operators, fleets, construction contractors, agriculture professionals and landscapers achieve long engine life in their vehicles

More benefits of synthetic diesel engine oil (from Mobil Delvac):

Excellent low-temperature flow performance
Mobil Delvac 1™ synthetic lubricants are engineered to reduce internal friction, which results in outstanding flow characteristics at low temperatures.

Viscosity stability
Higher viscosity index translates to a more stable viscosity across a broad temperature range. Along with the outstanding low-temperature performance, Mobil Delvac 1™ synthetic lubricants resist thinning at high temperatures. This means our Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic lubricants provide exceptional protection across a greater range of operating temperatures.

Improved oxidation and thermal stability
Improved oxidation stability and thermal stability in Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic lubricants compared to conventional oils result in less viscosity increase with age and better deposit control. That translates into the potential for extended oil drain intervals. Fewer oil changes and less downtime can help save you time and money.

Excellent wear protection
Newer engines must be able to handle extreme temperatures and high rpm. Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic engine oils were formulated to withstand these challenging operating conditions, offering our best protection for drivers with extended oil drain intervals. Mobil Delvac 1™ ESP advanced full synthetic diesel engine oils  provide excellent performance and outstanding wear protection.
