We are happy to announce that our founder, Charles “Mac” McPherson, has received the Volunteer in Service Award.  This award is given annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals on National Philanthropy Day. The following written in the Birmingham Business Journal. The following article was printed in the Birmingham Business Journal:

 

“Charles McPherson, Sr. (“Mac”) is from the “Sand Mountain ” area of northeast Alabama. He graduated from Albertville High School and the University of Alabama with a B.S. degree in business.

Mac began his petroleum industry career as a lubrication engineer with Shell Oil Company’s Marin Division in Houston, working with Shell Oil until 1970. On April 1, 1971, Mac formed McPherson Oil Products in Oneonta, Alabama.

After 47 years of buying, building and expanding what is now The McPherson Companies, Inc., Mac now serves as Founder and Board of Directors member. Mac grew McPherson Oil Products to become one of the Southeast’s most successful petroleum companies with over 39 acquisitions and mergers. With vast petroleum industry knowledge and experience, Mac is a strong asset to TMC’s customers and a new generation of company management with a family work atmosphere. Mac stresses the importance of environmental responsibility and is an industry leader in recycled products.

A community-focused leader who loves involvement in politics, Mac is often quoted saying, “Don’t gripe if you don’t care enough to be involved and vote.” Mac is an avid supporter of The University of Alabama, The Greater Birmingham Humane Society, serves on many charitable boards and political committees, and has supported United Way, Boy Scouts, Prescott House, Wounded Warrior Project, Mitchell’s Place, Juvenile Arthritis Foundation, and Children’s Hospital of Alabama.

Mac loves fly fishing anytime or anywhere, attending Alabama football games, and keeping up with his Lambda Chi fraternity brothers and 1959 Albertville High School classmates in touch with each other.”
