Steel Plant Reduces Grease Consumption

A leading steel manufacturer in Alabama was experiencing several issues with its hot mill. While using an aluminum complex grease in the hot mill, the manufacturer was regreasing more frequently than desired due to extensive water washout and high heat. Additionally, during mill operation, the hot mill’s scale would come into contact with the grease and ignite, causing grease fires. In an effort to enhance the efficiency of its equipment and operation, the manufacturer approached its distributor, McPherson Oil Products, and the Mobil Serv Engineering team to help reduce grease consumption, grease-related fires, and related maintenance costs.
